The site currently (02.11.2011) supports bookmarking and postponed reading via Instapaper, Read It Later and Readability, on Google Android-, iOS- and Microsoft Windows-powered devices.

To Jim Craig Heydenrych, or "Jimmy", as his friends call him; for all the training material on Civil Defence / Burgerlike Beskerming, Fire-fighting, and First Aid he so generously donated to our curriculum. Jimmy started out as a Cub Scout, later joining the Boy Scouts. Spent some time training as a Naval Cadet at SAS Unitie. Worked aboard the Irvin & Johnson deep-sea stern trawler Lobelia, for a year, as a greaser. Joined the army and volunteered for border duty as a "Convoy-Guard" traveling between Grootfontein, Katima, Tsifuma, Kongola and Angola. In February 1974, upon finishing his military service, Heydenrych joined the Fire Services as a firefighter. Worked his way up to "Senior" level over the years, earning his Certificate of Competency for Fire Extinguishers, High Angle Rope Rescue, Hazmat Awareness Level 1, City of Cape Town Law Enforcement Officer, Basic Ambulance Assistant, Ambulance Emergency Assistant Level 6, Vehicle Extrication and Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Control Center Coordinator, Helicopter Extrication and Rescue, Ejector Seat Safety and Isolation, Fire Protection, Petrochemicals, as well as a Preliminary to Higher Certificate in Firefighting. Jimmy also completed Special Weapons And Tactics Training (SWAT) with the South African Police Services. Qualified in Defensive Driving with high-speed fire-fighting vehicles as well as Turntable Ladders and Hydraulic Platforms. Jimmy spent more than 32 years in the Fire Service, stationed at Fire Stations throughout the Peninsula, finally ending at Goodwood Fire Station where he took early retirement in April 2007. Jimmy recently turned 55.
